Ice Sailing Report

I had an excellent time at the lake today. I sailed on a Freeskate iceboard at Clinton Lake. Michael went with me and ice skated for the first time. He loved it. He also took a ride on the back of the board I was riding. The ice was really smooth today, but as the day warmed up, the ice became weak and fragile. We got off the ice around 2:00pm.
Session Report: January 6, 2008
Got to the lake around 11:30. Rigged a 6.0 on the Quatro 120. I got on the water at noon. I was nicely powered for about an hour and then took a short break. When I got back on the water the wind was up and down and finally died off. I could have sailed the pacer, but I didn't feeling like rigging another board and sail.
The water is quite cold and hurts the hands. I chose to not wear my mittens since the air was warm. I just tried to keep my hands out of the water. I was wearing a 7mm wet suit. The initial rush of water down my back was quite "refreshing" as I stepped into the ice cold lake. Eventually my body heat warmed the water and then I was quite comfortable. Succeeding cold water plunges had little effect on warmth since the space in my wet suit was filled with warm water.
It was nice to grab a weekend session.
